Porcelain "Cloud-bands" continued
Continuing the porcelain construction, I added to the first layer of “cloud-bands” (inspired by the medieval art style of drawing clouds with wavy lines).
Then, after positioning the second layer and attaching them in place, I blended the seams together and smoothed the edges with water and a paintbrush. I also coated the whole sculpture in liquid wax, which will help it to dry evenly and have less chance of cracking. The wax will burn off when it’s fired, but first it has to dry very slowly. The next steps will involve sculpting a figure that stands in the center, but I will do that part separately.
